Oddfellow Records: A vinyl record sleeve: a large disc with concentric grooves and a gold label, partly emerging from a square sleeve patterned with quarter-circle arcs.

Brief

A small label with a big catalogue wanted every release to feel special without paying for a new cover each time.

Idea

Generate each sleeve from the catalogue number and the date it was cut. The rules are fixed; the output never repeats.

Build

Ten weeks to write the generator, test it against the pressing plant, and hand over a tool the label could run.

Launch

The first run went to press with 1,400 unique sleeves and no manual layout.

After

The first pressing disappeared, and collectors now trade the sleeves by catalogue number.
